Geology Middlebury Professor Internship at Lake Champlain (Tom Manley-  tmanley@middlebury.edu)
  • I'm putting out a blanket call to anybody who would might be interested in being a summer intern at Middlebury College. This would evolve around is the large Vermont EPSCoR program. You would be out on Lake Champlain for approximately four weeks with another three interns. Everything would be staged out of Burton island state Park where the RV Folger would be docked. All summer interns would have one large cabin to share. Work would be related to recovery and redeployment of hydrodynamic instrumentation (that have been sitting in the Lake for over year), a large sediment sampling program of the Inland Sea and continued high resolution bottom mapping of that region. After the field program, we would all come back to Middlebury College for the processing and analysis of the data with each intern having their own specific topic. If you believe you might be interested, please drop me an email.

Adirondack Conservation Internship:
  • The Adirondack Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is seeking applications for a paid, full-time summer position, the 2019 Adirondack Conservation Associate.  I am writing in the hope that you could help us spread the word about this opportunity with your current students and alumni who might be interested. (This job has also been submitted for posting at Middlebury’s career services office.)  Middlebury alums Caroline Colan and Gus Goodwin had this job in previous summers, and we would very much appreciate applications from other Middlebury students!
  • The Adirondack Conservation Associate is a 10- to 14-week position for college-age students and recent college graduates, and is an opportunity to gain substantive experience and exposure to all aspects -- threat abatement, communications, land protection and stewardship, fundraising, conservation science -- of the Chapter’s work in the Adirondacks of northern New York.  The lead project will focus on conservation communications. We seek a motivated self-starter with a strong interest in learning more about environmental conservation. Attached is an overview of the job. The complete position description and application instructions are posted online at www.nature.org/careers as job id #47265. Applications are due Tuesday, February 12, 2019, and must be made online through The Nature Conservancy’s careers website. Our office cannot accept applications.
